A month or so back, a YouTuber I watch very often, Valefisk, announced his video on the board game “The Campaign for North Africa” (CNA) would finally be coming out after several years. To commemorate the occasion, I made this funny meme in GIMP in all of 15 minutes.

The steps I took to make it were as follows:

1. Download a .png of the original CNA box cover
2. Remove the original title and mark with the clone stamp
3. Add the new logo as basic text
4. Pick colours from the original

The font and colours aren’t exact and it does annoy me quite a bit, but I’m still proud of it because it doesn’t look absolutely horrible. If I were to do another like this, I would:

• Edit Valefisk’s profile picture over Erwin Rommel’s face
• Vertically stretch/horizontally squish the text to more closely resemble the original
• Find a higher-quality original
• Change the yellow text to be some sort of in-joke for fans

Overall I would say I did alright on it. There’s always room for improvement on anything one creates, but for my first time really using GIMP and only spending 15-ish minutes on it, I’d say I did alright. I have grown a serious disdain for GIMP and its lack of basic features, however.
